Web content management

Using Caliban makes maintaining your site a quick and easy job, even for non-technical people. It is probably the most powerful tool for maintaining your website you will find - unless you want to pay megabucks.

Page templates
Templates are at the heart of the way that Caliban works. You create or select a template and apply it to a Caliban page and the page is published perfectly, every time. Change the template and you change every page that uses it. It's an incredible powerful way to manage your site.

Tokens
Every template has little placeholders that define where the heading, main text, images, and so on are to be placed. However, because each token is a mini-program in its own right, they can add quite sophisticated functionality. There's a token that lets you create a secret "hot button" on you web pages that you can use to take you direct to the editing environment for that page (all securely protected, of course). Or a token that allows you to specify a default main image, if you don't select another image. You can generate RSS feeds, control menu options and much more.

Standard Objects
Caliban's StandardObject technology gives you tremendous power to manage your website. Each Standard Object is a single component that you can use again and again throughout your site.

A Standard Object could be your company description, a pricing structure, a piece of standard text that you use in 'gateway' pages for web searches - or even a menu bar. With Standard Objects just one change can update every single page on your site.

Scripting
Power users can take advantage of Caliban's scripting language, which lets you create custom routines to generate the functionality that you need. Or our experienced Caliban development team will do it for you.

Copy previous
Caliban lets you create many variations on a theme - different pages designed to be found by various web searches. The Copy Previous function helps you do this quickly and easily. You make your changes to a pre-existing page and publish it in, literally, seconds.

Classes
Caliban lets you create Page Classes as a way to administer your content. You might have pages for technical documents, help files, product pages, marketing and so on and need an easy way to manage them all. Caliban lets you do this quickly and efficiently.

Output HTML
You can even use Caliban to create static pages which are not hosted by Caliban, so you can use it as a page generator. Put your text into a Caliban document and use the Output HTML function to save your complete page to your computer.

Alternatively, of course, it's a great way to back up your work.

Active/Inactive
Pages are by default published on the web, but you can turn them on and off by using the Active/Inactive function. If you have a page that is no longer valid, but which could come online later then one click turns it off or publishes it again.

Owner
Each page has an owner, so you can easily find the pages created by the owner and maintain them.

Apply template
If you want to publish pages using a different page template, then Caliban makes it easy. Select the records you want to change and use the Apply Template function - et voila!

Apply class
In just the same way as Apply Template, you can select your pages and change the Class to which they belong. It's quick, easy and incredibly effective.

Viewing records
When you have tens, hundreds or thousands of pages, then you need to know that you can find the ones you need quickly.

Records per page
