Journalist Amanda Campbell on her reaction to a Realise Your Inner Potential weekend workshop

There’s no doubt that change is coming. We feel it everyday, we sense the optimism. But exactly how do we get ready for this great change? How do we change ourselves?

Over the years I’ve met many people who feel the imminent change, who feel the need to follow a spiritual path and yet they feel confused. Lurching from shamanic retreats to angel workshops, channelling ascended masters to the latest ancient Egyptian healing techniques, they still feel no clearer about their life’s purpose.

Perhaps they have cluttered their understanding with so much exotic spiritual food they have missed the point. To truly understand the change, to realise our inner potential, simplicity is key.

Simplicity and grace. For centuries these have been the mainstay of spiritual development for millions. It’s time to put that simplicity and grace back into our spiritual lives. And if you’d like to do that then you need look no further than the Inner Potential Centre’s Realise your inner potential work.

Shortly before his death in 1997, yoga master Dr. George King agreed the content of Realise Your Inner Potential, to be based around his written and recorded teachings, amassed over more than 40 years.  This book was completed by his close colleague and co-author Richard Lawrence.
The book aims to give the reader information of great spiritual benefit, which will also help all you come into contact with.

Dr King was clearly an exceptional spiritual force He gave healing from the age of 10 and from the age of 26 practised yoga for 8 hours a day for 10 years, at the same time working for a living. His many amazing experiences included physically levitating from the floor while sending out powerful healing prayers, stopping a storm from flooding London, and mastering fully conscious astral projection.

But all these feats pale in comparison to his life’s mission he worked on ceaselessly for over 40 years – to heal the planet.

At the time of writing Dr King was convinced that humanity faces a great change.  “How this change manifests depends on what you and others do,” he writes. It’s a time of great upheaval and great opportunity. Because of this, “I have decided to publish the priceless information contained within this book – some of it you will not be able to obtain from any other source.”

Dr King fought against arcane exclusive mysticism, wanting people to have access to extensive spiritual empowerment, previously cloaked in secrecy.

For millennia students had to earn the right to be initiated into one of the mystery schools, enduring stringent tests even before receiving any of the teachings.

But in Realise your inner potential, Dr King offers you, “safe and proven methods of spiritual development … By performing these mystic exercises you will be playing your part in making the coming change successful for the world.” There’s only one way to advance. “Evolve yourself and help others do the same.”

By mastering these basic spiritual abilities, you will go on to perform miraculous healing. Dr King’s dream,  “is that one day you’ll help to heal the planet as a whole.”

The book is simple enough. The teachings and exercises focus around seven initiations. But both Dr King and Richard Lawrence are adamant. The knowledge itself is straightforward. The tough part comes in dedicating yourself to practice. “It’s a book to be used, not left on the shelf,” writes Dr King. “Work at it and you can really progress.”

Realise your inner potential is very much a work-book, and is as practical as it can be. But Richard Lawrence warns, “Do not take this book on faith – try it in your own life and know that it will work for you.”

The great wisdom, given in seven initiations, comprises information and practical exercises.  As Dr King puts it, “It is wisdom that sets a man free. Nothing else.”

The first initiation is on discovering universal knowledge, so you can see right from the word go this book means business. From mysticism and secrecy, to the truth, karma and life after death – it’s all here.

Next comes the awesome power of the mind, what is mind, what are concentration and contemplation, and the first exercises including the power of visualisation and the power of presence.

Then comes developing your psychic abilities. Some may wonder what this is doing in a book of spiritual development at all. But, if you, like me developed in a good old-fashioned psychic circle, you will appreciate this chapter.

I have taught psychic development for quite some time and have found there are sadly a number of friends out there who rather look down there noses at learning psychic skills, preferring to rush straight into advanced  (and to their mind, far more worthwhile,) spiritual practices.

Psychic development really is a natural step on the path to spiritual awareness. It enables us to hear, see and sense things we might have otherwise missed.  With a greater psychic awareness we can begin to understand that the universe holds all the answers to all our questions.

Needless to say all the essential psychic awareness techniques are here with some simple but immensely powerful exercises.

The fourth initiation is key and is ‘Harnessing the one energy.’ This focuses on breathing and gives six progressively more challenging breathing exercises. By taking in prana – “the natural universal supply of energy,” changes can really begin to take place. “Prana is the life of the atom and the vitality of the most elevated inspiration of the enlightened spirit,” writes Dr King.

The initiation also introduces us to the first of the practices of Aetherius, (for an example, see below). The teachings of Aetherius, an advanced cosmic master, were channelled over many years by Dr King and some of these practices are given in the book.

Dr King encourages you to follow them.  “By practising these exercises you will become attuned to the mystical knowledge which lies beneath the surface of material existence and gives real meaning and purpose.”

In the fifth initiation we learn how to radiate spiritual powers through dynamic prayer and the sacred sound of mantra. I enjoyed these practises very much and make sure I get as much mantra practice in as possible everyday, as it makes me feel really great.

Recently I was lucky enough to find myself on a rocky beach with the waves crashing in around me. I sat down on a rock and felt the incredible power of the sea. I chanted one of the mantras given in the book and the sounds echoed round the cove, the volume intensifying till it seemed there were hundreds of voices chanting. I also sensed the power of whales – although there were none. It was profoundly moving.

Dynamic prayer is also key to realising your inner potential.  “Dynamic prayer is a wonderful expression. It is a song of the soul and the soul wants to sing.” Dr King channelled the Master Jesus, who delivered the revolutionary system of prayer known as The Twelve Blessings.

“When we perform this wonderful practice we send energy out to entities and group souls greater than ourselves and even to the Wondrous Absolute itself,” writes Dr King.

“The stream of energy we receive in return then allows us to send out even more energy and to raise our consciousness in the process,” he adds.

Prayers – including a New Lord’s Prayer are all detailed. There are mudras and five fantastic mantras too. So if you haven’t felt any changes yet, by the time you practice this initiation, I can assure you that you most certainly will!

Realise your inner potential continues with the sixth initiation on giving global service –which co-author Richard Lawrence believes in many ways is the most important in the book. “Service is the key to the new millennium,” he writes.

“With it we can build a fantastic new age of peace and enlightenment,” continues Richard.  “Without it we certainly will not at this time in our history. For the individual it is the best possible way to manipulate your personal karmic pattern in the most beneficial manner.”

Dr King discusses the yoga of service, karma yoga, and says, “Karma yoga is the greatest (yoga) of them all. It is karma yoga which will save the world.”

And if you advance to the seventh initiation, you will learn about attaining enlightenment.  Being a progressive work it comes as no surprise that this initiation “is for the advanced students who wish to go all the way on the path of spiritual development.”

He recommends that these particular exercises, involving yoga breathing and meditation, “should only be practiced in the context of a life of balanced spirituality and service.”  Regular practice will gradually start to raise the kundalini and place you firmly on the path to enlightenment.

The beauty of Realise your inner potential is you can take it exactly as far as you want to. I know of no other development method that can offer this. The work comes as a book, a DVD and as a workshop course.

I read the book and then attended a weekend workshop with Richard Lawrence, run by the Inner Potential Centre in London. I have to say that the course was a definite plus and greatly deepened my understanding of the book.

Richard Lawrence has now devised a DVD and although I’ve not seen it yet I do know he is a most encouraging teacher and can believe that it would definitely add something beneficial. I would recommend that if you are interested in this work to try the book out with the DVD – or even try the course if you can go on one.

I attended the workshop nearly a year ago, and it’s taken me all this time to feel ready to write this article, because I wanted to experience the benefits personally before encouraging others.

Over the year I have noticed an immense change.  For the first time in my life I feel balanced and able to cope. I feel joy and gladness in the world around me.  And thanks to the breathing work I don’t even get puffed out running for the bus!

So give it a go – and you too could be realising your inner potential. Finally from Dr King, “Do not be afraid of climbing up the mountain to the temple in the clouds.  If you climb slowly and steadily for long enough you will know that every step of your journey was worthwhile.”

The Master Aetherius - Breathing and Recharging Exercise
To promote a mental balance and a physical well being try this breathing technique:

At dawn make sure that the breath is flowing up and down the left nostril.
At midday make sure that the breath is flowing up and down the left nostril.
At sunset make sure that the breath is flowing up and down the right nostril.
At midnight make sure that the breath is flowing up and down the right nostril.

This can be done by simply stopping up the opposite nostril with the finger.
